This website, ChuckCamroux.com which is a secure site, is one of a number of sites I maintain on the servers of Green Geeks. The servers are located in Montreal Canada.
I rarely have issues with the geeks, more so technical issues at our office which sometimes creates problems at the server. Today was one of those days. Don’t know what we did exactly, but we upgraded our FTP program, FilZilla to the Pro version, mainly because it has some options regarding Amazon S3 which we use a whole bunch. Anyway in the midst of installing the program, and doing some other minor cleanup, we erased the database for the site. Don’t ask.
In an effort to see if we could get it back, we did some other damage to the files and quickly realized it was going to be a complete rebuild unless we could get a backup from the Geeks. I contacted them around 8:15PM and asked about a backup. They told me they do one every night, so they had the backup and as it’s a few hours older than the latest minor updates to the site, they could install it.
By 9:15 PM they informed me that it was done, reinstalled and ready to be checked out. We looked it over and it appears that two pages need to be rewritten/installed.
I tell you all this just so you know there are many options for Internet Hosting services, and Green Geeks are a good one. At least from our perspective.
